Favorite Performance
Well, I saw Tim's thread on being nervous before shows. This reminded me of my first shows when I was nervous. It also reminded me of my favorites. So I want to hear your favorite performance ever. Can be from your show, or out on the street. Here is mine...
###################################
Well, I was at a restaurant with my father and my sister. I brought some of my cards, just incase any thing happened. I wasn't really planning on doing anything while I was there.
Well, I took out my cards and started doing some flourishes. The waitress could not stop looking at me. Eventually she got curious and asked if I was a magician. I said, "Yes". She wanted me to do some magic for her.
I started off with "Red Hot Mamacita". She enjoyed it and wanted more. I then did a joker routine I came up with. She began freaking out. I was glad I had my other decks with gimmicks and other things, just incase it became a show.
That's what happened! She called over another waiter, who called over another waiter and so on. Soon the entire staff was around me. Cheering my on and such. They really loved my magic, and at my closer the gave me free ice cream.

The one's I always like are from people who know magic and they pass on a compliment like "I know how that's done, and you did it very well". It always feels good to get a pat on the back from a peer.
The one's I like even better are from people who know magic and they say something like "I have no idea how you did that". It always feels better to pat a peer on the back.
Until we appear again,
Kipp Sherry

My favorite performance was probably the video below. It was really fun because they were all seniors (and senior girls too =) haha) and Im a freshman this year. They also invited me over and as soon as I walked in, everyone was there ready for me to perform and handed me cards haha. Anyway, it was awesome:

Good Question Taylor,
My favorite performance was my very first illusion show. It was back in 94 and I spent a month building and rehearsing illusions for it. It was presented at a school for both physically and mentally handicapped kids. They had a hard time getting entertainers to perform there and were especially happy to have an illusionist attend.
It was far from by best but it worked to a degree but the audience wasting no time in telling me they appreciated it. When I did a flash appearance the response was so great that I turned around behind me to see if I had set something on fire. I couldn't believe how loud and enthusiastic the crowd was.
Each illusion was met with Oooohs, WOWs and great applause. My ego would like to tell me it was because I was fantastic... but it was my first show and I know this was not the case. LOL It was a fantastic audience and to this day they are my very favorite.
A big paying gig pales in comparison to a free show done for a very enthusiastic and appreciative crowd. Their supportive cheers inspired me to move forward in magic as a career so in that sense I guess I did get paid for it.... many times over.
Best,
Tim
