Hi Guys and Gals or both if you are rare like that! I just found what I believe is the first review for F*ck Street Magic! I am off to Poland for a week and pretty much decided to stay up late and fight the time change( not going to work as it never does). Anyway here is the review...It is a long one and very detailed!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
The Magic Cafe Forums - F*CK Street Magic! review
Ah what can I say about this dvd that hasn't already been said? Well actually I have no idea since I haven't seen a review for it yet so I went and decided pick up a copy of Black's Magic newest and hilariously named F*CK Street Magic dvd starring Todd Diamond. I must say sadly enough I've never heard of Todd before this dvd and I feel rather shamed for not knowing of him till this dvd. In this dvd he presents three of his personal routines all which I must say are equally quite good in there own unique way and boy do I mean unique. I must say this dvd is not for everyone espeically if you do not like blue humor and adult language. Now to the effects.
Effects:
No !@#$%^& Way: This is the first trick taught in the dvd and must say its rather nice. Its a nice take on already classic effect which is always nice. One of the pluses of his particular version is its gimmickless. It does have one tricky move to it but with some practice it will look very smooth. Of course Todd being the nice he is does admit this trick was actually taught to him when NFW originally came out and is credited to Frank Price. Overall this trick gets an 8.5
Spellbound: Again another take on a classic effect. Its very well put together routine that is over in 20 seconds but does require it a lot of work to perform. Not just in skill but also with some gimmicks. As for skill this is probably the most difficult trick to perform on the entire dvd. Depending on the magician most will probably have all of the materials though some such as myself will need to pick some up. Though from watching the reactions in the street segments I can easily say it would worth. This is eaisly was my favorite trick on the entire dvd and because of that it gets a 10/10. (Admittely not to hard since there are only 3 tricks but I digress.)
Birds & Bees: This would be Todds rather unique take on the Ambitious Card routine. And when I do mean unique its frikking unique. The reason its so unique not because the card handling behind it is overly technical because I don't think it is. It's the presentation behind this effect requires you to have the worlds biggest cajones. His presentation behind this effect would probably be more suited for a bar or a club or with really close friends. Really not suited for a nice formal dinner or very class restaurant. Of course Todd does admit this particular presentaation is rather ballsy and you really NEED to pick your specator for this trick. Admittely you need to have at least intermediate card handling skills to perform this trick. Overall this trick is an 8.5/10
Teaching:
Todd's teaching is just friggin phenomenal. Of course at times I do feel like Todd is yelling at me. Which is good because it feels like he is in fact actually talking to you so his teaching comes of as very personal. Todd makes sure he goes over every little detail which is just awesome and I mean every detail from handmovement to sleights to even how you breath! (I of course did make up that last part up so please don't take that serious.) I would love to see Todd put out more dvds.
Extras:
There are some extras on the dvds such as outakes BUT my favorite extra on the entire dvd is the interview James Dimmare. The information James gave out was just easily worth the entire dvd alone and I applaud Blacks Magic and Todd for getting this interview with James.
Overall:
This is my favorite product/dvd released by Blacks Magic. Just so much information was given out on this dvd and quite honestly this by far one of the best dvds released this year. I personally would love to see a F*CK Street Magic volume 2. Get this dvd you will not be disappointed.
