POSTS ABOUT PRODUCT AND CREATORS

Listen, if you don’t like something fine; post reviews that are honest but as objective as you can make them. Don’t just say something sucks without backing it up with legitimate reasoning. Feel free to attack a product (reasonably) but NOT the creator. See “Character Assassinations” above.
POSTS ABOUT COMPANIES

Don’t post speculation, conjecture, and hearsay about dealers and producers of magic. There’s no need for that. If you want to post legitimate facts such as slow order processing time, that’s fine. But to blame the dealer for the postal service being slow is just plain stupid. Get it? Don’t just bash them unless you have facts to back it up. Otherwise it will get deleted and you may get banned.
Here’s an example of what is okay: “I purchased X product from Dealer A on X date. It took twelve years to get it. How do I know? The post mark showed today, but my credit card was processed twelve years ago. Talk about slow service. They said it would be out to me in one week. I would not suggest buying from them.”
Here’s an example of what isn’t okay: “Bob Smith’s magic shop sucks! I hate that guy’s beard and he is a worthless human being. He is a rip off artist and I was scammed out of $4.20. He drinks the bong water, talks slow, and couldn’t perform to save his life!”
The first one deals with legitimate specifics, but the latter implies criminality and is also a personal attack that is very emotional and vague. If you’ve been screwed by someone, that sucks, but this forum isn’t the place to fix it.

Yeah, yeah… everyone has something to sell these days. We know, you picked up a DVD last week and did a new version of the effect, filmed it, and now want $30 for it. Fine. Contact a distributor and see if they want it or build your own personal client list; this forum isn’t your economic playground.
That being said, we know there are some legitimate professionals out there and new creators who want to gain exposure. We have no problem with you posting once about your newest creation, but don’t get stupid about it. We have a place for that, so do it there. Don’t jump all over and post it or you’ll get banned. We don’t care who you are.
You may also wish to contact us to arrange some kind of deal to promote your wares. Legitimate advertisers can benefit from such things, but if you come in here and abuse the services we’ve paid for to provide to the magic community, you’ll get booted.
Additionally, should you register and then post a blatant ad and leave, that post will be deleted and your membership banned. And NOBODY is allowed to post ANY links to auctions. They will get deleted.
PM and EMAIL

Anyone who uses these systems to commit crime, send spam, or to harass another member will be permanently banned and their details, where necessary, provided to law enforcement. If you get an email or PM like this, report it to us immediately. For this reason Street Magic.tv reserves the right to review any message posted in its Private Messaging system for ANY reason whatsoever.
That being said, your details are held in the strictest confidence here. We do not sell emails to third parties and will never release anything about you unless you are implicated in criminal activity.

GETTING BANNED:

Read the dictionary. If you screw up here—that is, break our rules—you’ll get kicked out, removed, or banned. You’ll not be allowed to gain access to this site for a period of time (perhaps a day, a week, a month) or permanently. If you don’t like that, then go somewhere else. We generally will warn someone first, but there are cases that will require us to ban someone right out without warning. We can do that and we don’t care if that upsets anyone. Like we said, play by the rules and all will be fine.
