Product Description

In 2004 Mentalism+ pioneered one of the first genuinely new principles in mentalism in the form of the original Cerebro, a landmark utility device that sent shockwaves through the world of magic.

In 2007, we’ve done it again.

We have gone back to the drawing board and have reinvented Cerebro. Over three years and two generations of technology later, Cerebro is back with a bang: better, stealthier, more accessible and versatile than ever before. Cerebro 3 is the ultimate expression of applied thinking and cutting edge technology.

We’ve listened to our customers, we’ve invested time and resources and we’ve finally delivered the last word in covert voice cueing systems.

Cerebro 3 is the world’s first bone conduction thumbtip and can be used for both spectator and performer cueing.

Born out of the Cerebro 2 development project, Cerebro 3 takes advantage of the miniaturization and amplification breakthroughs we developed for Cerebro 2a and 2b and the result is something that hitherto was deemed impossible, a wireless thumbtip that can transmit voice cues through touch to yourself or a spectator. The applications are as fiendish as they are versatile.

One of the holy grails of mentalism is a clean and stoogeless ‘spectator-as-mindreader’ effect. Cerebro made this a reality and now Cerebro 3 makes the method virtually self-working and invisible.

Cerebro 3 also has the additional feature of allowing the performer to receive radio cues from a hidden assistant without having to resort to earpieces or visual cues. These cues can be gained by biting on the thumbtip or touching it to your jaw, chin, cheek or skull.

In both instances, the cues can be transmitted even with the ears totally blocked!

For the bizarrists, Cerebro can also be used to make solid objects and surfaces emit sound. Empty boxes, teapots, glasses or tables can be made to resonate with sound and can immediately be handed out for examination and will be found to be totally clean!

Cerebro 3 comes with everything you need to get started including Cerebro 3 thumbtip (available in medium, large or custom sizes ), digital sound recorder, batteries and full CD-ROM instructions and Cerebronics effects booklet that includes PK Sounds, Thought Flash and James Cheung’s definitive and utterly impossible looking version of Add-a-number, until now only available to those who purchased the original Cerebro. Cerebronics 3 also includes an exclusive new routine from James Cheung and Kenton Knepper.

These are the effects shipping with Cerebro 3:

Thought Flash – The ultimate impromptu stoogeless spectator-as-mindreader effect. Two spectators are chosen, one to be the sender, one to be a receiver. The performer fans a deck of cards and has the sender chooses one. This card is remembered and the spectator places it back into his pocket without showing it to anyone. The performer then stands between the sender and the receiver, places his hands on their heads and will act as the ‘conduit’ of the thought. The sender then mentally sends the name of the chosen card to the receiver who correctly names the card. This effect is not limited to cards but the principle can be used for any information.

PK Sounds – A whole new plot made possible by Cerebro technology. Two random spectators are chosen and are sat down on opposite sides of the stage and are blindfolded. One spectator is requested to block their ears with their fingers. The performer then walks over to the other spectator and whispers a word into their ear. The spectators are then asked if they heard a word whispered to them. Both say yes, even the spectator with the ears blocked and on the other side of the stage!  They write down the word they heard. They are shown to match! (Sound happens in real time).

Son of a Beach – A Cerebro update of a Kenton Knepper classic from James Cheung and Kenton Knepper. A spectator is seated and blindfolded and asked to go on a mental journey to a random place. The performer induces the spectator into a mild hypnotic state in order to intensify the imagery the spectator is thinking of. Behind the spectator, there is a board with the word ‘beach’ written on it. The spectator is then to name place they were thinking of. He says ‘beach’. The performer suggests that the journey was more than just a mental one, but also physical. He requests the spectator removes his shoe and from it he pours sand, the ultimate proof that he actually traveled to the beach!

Add-another-no - The definitive add-a-number and certainly the most impossible looking. A standout set piece effect that is being tipped for the first time outside a handful of insiders. The performer takes an envelope and places it on a chair in the centre of the stage. He then requests 5 volunteers to join him on stage. On the stage there is a whiteboard on a stand. The performer instructs one of the volunteers to immediately sit down on the chair, on top of the envelope he placed there. The remaining three volunteers are then asked to write down a multi-digit number on the board. The final remaining volunteer then totals these numbers and writes down the total for everyone to see. Members of the audience can verify the addition should they want. Once that is done he covers the board with a sheet and everyone apart from the volunteer sitting on the envelope in the middle of the stage returns to their seat.

Throughout the whole of this, the performer will stand on the other side of the stage, with his back to the audience, blindfolded and with his fingers in his ears (so he cannot hear the sound of the marker). Once everything has been added up, the final volunteer taps the performer on the shoulder to let him know.

The performer takes his fingers out of his ears and his blindfold off. He then asks the remaining volunteer to stand up and hand him the envelope that he has been sitting on the entire time. The envelope is opened and the contents are tipped into the hands of the spectator and the envelope is checked to make sure it is empty. What is tipped out is a folded index card. The card is unfolded and on it is written a number. The number is read out by the volunteer and is the same number that was totaled up earlier! The sheet covering the whiteboard is whipped off for confirmation. This effect uses no stooges, no switches or peeks.

Hypnotic Realities – A new twist on an almost forgotten concept, HR creates the most convincing illusion of instant and powerful hypnotic skill to date. A spectator is chosen and put through an ‘induction’ where he appears to be under the total control of the performer, so much so the performer can remove sensations of pain. Having a lit cigarette placed into the hypnotized spectator’s hand with no pain or injury proves this. This effect uses no stooges.
